BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Jill Tichy (JR, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) led the Augsburg College women's basketball team, but a tough shooting night for the Auggies allowed the College of St. Benedict to surge to a 64-49 victory in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

Augsburg (3-5 overall, 1-5 MIAC) was led by Tichy's 12-point night, while she added four rebounds and a pair of assists and blocked shots. It was the second consecutive double-digit performance for Tichy and fifth overall in her first season in an Auggie uniform.

Jolene Blood (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) and Brittany Zins (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) also finished in double figures for the Auggies, posting 10 points apeice. Jessica Lillquist (FY, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) came off the bench to score a career-high eight points, while adding a pair of rebounds and steals.

St. Benedict (6-3 overall, 4-2 MIAC) was led by Brianna Barrett (JR, Annandale, Minn.), who finished with a game-high 15 points, while adding three boards and a steal.

Despite a season-low shooting performance, the Auggies trailed 25-22 at the half. Augsburg stuck with the Blazers for the first 10 minutes of the second half, and a Tichy three-pointer at the 11:44 mark brought the score to 35-30 in favor of the Blazers. Unfortunately, St. Ben's put together a 14-0 run that the Auggies were not able to come back from.

For the game, Augsburg shot 26.3 percent (15-of-57) from the field, while the Blazers hit 33.3 percent (18-of-54) of their shots. Augsburg was able to win the battle on the boards (43-41) but committed a season-high 28 turnovers which led to 17 St. Ben's points.

Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (12/15) at 3 p.m., with the Auggies hosting Cornell College (Iowa) in a nonconference game at Si Melby Hall.
