Wolke leads Auggies at SJU

MEET RESULTS

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn.-- Rick Wolke (SR, Belle Plaine, Minn.) recorded two first place finishes in the 60- and 200-meter dash competitions to lead the Augsburg College men's track and field team at the St. John's University Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Wolke clocked a personal best time of 7.02 seconds to win the 60, and recorded a time of 22.54 seconds to finish first in the 200. Wolke's time in the 200 also marked a personal best, and is currently ranked as the fastest time recorded in the event among MIAC competitors this season. Wolke currently holds the second fastest 60-meter time among MIAC competitors during the 2012 indoor season.

Joining Wolke at the top of the 200 field was Augsburg sprinter Fabien Dubbe (FY, New Prague, Minn.) who finished second in the event with a time of 23.25 seconds. Dubbe, who holds the fifth fastest 200 time in the conference, also recorded a third-place finish in the 60, as he clocked a personal best time of 7.29 seconds.

Middle distance runner Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) also turned in a solid performance for the Auggies, as he finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.87. Arnold's time marks a personal-best in the event.

Distance runner Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) recorded a third-place finish in the mile run, as he clocked a time of 4:31.10.

Other notable Augsburg performances included spriters Alex Obanor (FY, Fischers, Ind./Marian Catholic (Ill.) HS) and Dan Wolfson (FY, Edina, Minn.) who finished fifth and eighth respectively in the 60-meter dash. Obanor recorded a personal best time of 7.31 seconds, while Wolfson clocked a time of 7.40 seconds.

Luke Iverson (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) finished the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:02.81 to finish in eighth-place.

In the 3000-meter run, Augsburg distance runners Daniel Gerber (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Brian Byrnes (JR, Marshall, Minn.) each recorded season best times of 9:23.42 and 9:41.30 to finish in third and seventh place respectively.

In the relays, the Augsburg 4x400 meter team recorded a time of 3:31.89 to record the teams first first-place finish of the season in the event.

In the field events, high jumper Michael Harley (FY, Sugar Hill, Ga./Stillwater (Minn.) HS) finished in first-place in the event, as he recorded a height of 1.88 meters (6-feet 2), while teammate John Spray (FY, Mount Dora, Fla./Mount Dora Bible HS) recorded a height of 1.73 meters (5-feet 8) to finish in fourth-place.

The Auggies return to action on Saturday (2/18) at the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic in Northfield, Minn.
