DAY ONE RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Ashley Carney (JR, Lakeville, MInn./Lakeville South HS) claimed a conference championship and set a new Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor championships record in the 60-meter dash to lead the Augsburg College women's track and field team at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Macalester's Leonard Center.

Carney, who finished seventh in the 55-meter dash at last year's championship meet, clocked a season-best time of 7.74 seconds to claim her first individual conference crown. Carney's time topped her previous season-best mark and currently ranks as the seventh fastest among all NCAA Division III participants this season. As a result, Carney should be in line to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships, which will be held March 9-10 at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

Other Augsburg competitors on the first day included pole vaulter Brittany Tuberg (JR, Apple Valley, Minn.) who finished in ninth place. Tuberg, the Augsburg school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault, recorded a height of 3.07 meters (10-feet-0.75) in her final attempt Friday evening.

Distance runner Jennifer Pulscher (SR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS) competeted in both the mile and 800-meter run Friday. Pulscher recorded a season-best time of 2:40.03 in the 800, and recorded a 5:55.92 time in the mile.

Action from the final day at Macalester will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
