MINNEAPOLIS-- The Augsburg College baseball team swept a two game double header against Wartburg College at the HHH Metrodome late Thursday and early Friday morning. Augsburg won game one 2-1 in eight innings, and followed up with a 10-0 win in game two. With the two game sweep, the Auggies evened their season record at 2-2.
Lou LaChapelle (JR, Eagan, Minn.) singled with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and eventually scored the winning run to lead the Auggies to a win in game one. After LaChapelle singled, and back to back walks were issued to
Adam Seaman (SR, Richfield, Minn.) and
Tom Petersen (SR, Hugo, Minn./White Bear Lake HS)
Trent Anderson (SR, Eagan, Minn.) was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run and lead the Auggies to an exciting walk off win.
Jeff Boresz (SR, Chardon, Ohio/Mentor HS) struck out two and allowed only one Wartburg hit in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball to earn the pitching win for Augsburg in game one. Boresz relieved starter
Eren Cur (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) who only gave up four hits and did not allow an earned run 5 1/3 innings of work for Augsburg.
Seaman, who was 1-3 with a walk in game one, hit a crucial two-out RBI single up the middle to tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth off of Wartburg starter Scott Benson. Benson was the tough luck loser in game one, as he struck out eight and walked two in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Augsburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in game two and eventually added five more runs before running away with a 10-0 win.

Ryan Mestnik (FY, Prior Lake, Minn.) was dominant in pitching a complete game two-hit shutout to earn his first career collegiate win for Augsburg.
Brent Kolbow (JR, Forest Lake, Minn.) led the Augsburg offensive attack in game two, as he went 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Through the first four games of the season, Kolbow is batting a team high .533.
LaChapelle went 1-2 with a run scored, two walks and three RBI's in game two, while DH
Ryan Sward (SO, Eagan, Minn.) went 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Augsburg will return to the dome Friday evening (3/9) for a non-conference double header against Mayville State (ND). The first pitch is scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday evening.
