ST. PETER, Minn.-- Allyson Ruedy (JR, Waseca, Minn.) went 5-for-7 and drove in three runs to lead the Augsburg College softball team to a split with Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon. Augsburg won game one of the doubleheader 6-3, before falling in the nightcap by a score of 2-1.

With the series split, Augsburg (18-20 overall, 11-9 MIAC) maintains a hold on fourth place in the MIAC regular season standings, while knocking Gustavus (26-8 overall, 18-2 MIAC) into second place. Heading into the last weekend of the regular season, the Auggies currently sit two games ahead of St. Mary's for fourth-place and trail St. Benedict by a game for third place. Both St. Benedict and St. Mary's have four games left to play in the regular season, including a series against one another, while the Auggies will close out the regular season with a two-game series against St. Catherine on Saturday.

Ruedy drove in all three of her runs during the Auggies 6-3 win in game one of the series against the Gusties, including an RBI double in the fourth inning to put Augsburg in front 2-0. The Auggies struck again in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs on four hits including Bekka Kelly's (FY, Columbia Heights, Minn.) two-run single that scored Bri Dorale (JR, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) and Kelsey Rorabeck (JR, Hudson, Wis./Somerset HS).

Gustavus responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Augsburg lead to three, but reliever Kylee Persing (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) was able to finish the game off to earn the victory in the pitching circle. Starter Amanda Eaton (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn.) allowed one run on four hits in three innings of work.

In the second game, the Auggie fell behind early but were able to even the score at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Neither team would capitalize again offensively until Gustavus was able to push across the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to escape with a 2-1 win and split of the series.

Persing was the tough-luck loser in game two, as she worked 4.2 innings while allowing one run on six hits. In addition to her performance in the circle, Persing also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Dorale, Mary Hildestad (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Emily Smith (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) each recorded a hit for Augsburg in game two, while Rorabeck and Stephanie Saxe (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) each recorded a hit in game one.

The Auggies will conclude the regular season with a doubleheader against Saint Catherine on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
