2013 NABC Division III All-District Release
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's basketball player
Dan Kornbaum (JR, Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) West All-Disctict second team honors, it was announced on Monday. Kornbaum was one of just three Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players to receive West All-District honors as selected by the coaches association.
Kornbaum is the first Auggie to be recognized by the NABC since Tony Doran,
Andy Grzesiak-Grimm and
Brett Sorenson were named to the NABC honors court in 2011. Justin Kozlowski and Darren Nelson also received NABC honors court recognition in 2007. Devean George was named NABC All-West Region first team and NABC second-team All-American in 1998.
The award was the latest for Kornbaum, who was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region second team and the All-MIAC first team announced earlier this season.
In his first year in an Auggie uniform after transferring from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Kornbaum led the team in scoring, rebounding and field-goal percentage, while averaging 18.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per-game and a .587 shooting percentage. In conference-only statistics, Kornbaum finished the season ranked second among MIAC players in scoring (18.5 ppg), third in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and fourth in shooting percentage (.596).
Kornbaum put his mark on the Augsburg school record book this year as well, posting the eighth-best single-season field-goal percentage (58.7 percent) in school history, eighth-best single-season rebound total (225), 15th-best single-season rebounding average (8.0 rpg) and sixth-best single-season blocked shot total (38).
