Kornbaum named to D3hoops.com Team of Week

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's basketball center Dan Kornbaum (SR, Little Falls, Minn.) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for his performance in two Auggie wins last week, it was announced on Thursday by D3hoops.com, a national website covering NCAA Division III basketball.

Kornbaum had a strong week in the post for Augsburg, averaging 23.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per-game in two Auggie wins, an 86-71 win at Hamline last Wednesday and a 69-42 win over Macalester last Saturday. In the process, Kornbaum reached the 1,000-point plateau for his collegiate career.  Against Hamline, Kornbaum scored 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, adding nine rebounds and a blocked shot. Against Macalester, he scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

This week, he scored 28 points with nine rebounds in a 75-71 win over Saint John's on Monday, and scored 18 points with eight rebounds in a 66-63 win at Carleton on Wednesday.

In his first two seasons at Minnesota-Duluth (53 games, 281 points) and his last two seasons at Augsburg (41 games, 770 points), he now has 1,051 career points (11.2 ppg), 507 rebounds (5.4 rpg) and 105 blocks (1.1 bpg).

Kornbaum leads the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's overall statistics in scoring average (19.8 ppg), total points (257) and field goals made (107), while standing third in rebounds per-game (8.1), second in total rebounds (105), second in total blocks (22) and second in field-goal percentage (.652).

Augsburg is now 9-4 overall and 5-3 in MIAC play, winning its last four games in a row and five of its last six contests. The Auggies return to action this Saturday (1/18) at 3 p.m. with a game at Bethel, and host Saint Mary's on Monday (1/20) at 7:45 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
