MEET RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn.--
Barinedum Kordah (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) claimed an event win in the long jump to lead the Augsburg College men's track and field team at the University of St. Thomas Showcase Friday evening. Although no team results were recorded at the meet, the Auggies had a great showing, with seven Auggies finishing in the top five and 14 in the top 10.Â
Kordah, who was one of the Auggies' starting defenders on the pitch for the men's soccer team this fall, jumped 6.70 meters (21-feet-11.75) to earn the victory on Friday in his first career meet.Â
The Augsburg sprinting duo of
Undre Smith-Brewer (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson) and
Lekpea Kordah (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) also performed well on Friday, as the two runners recorded third- and fourth-place finishes in the 60-meter dash. Smith-Brewer clocked a time of 6.99 seconds -- just 0.04 seconds off the school record of 6.95 -- to finish third, while Kordah finished behind his teammate in fourth-place with a time of 7.07 seconds.Â
Lekpea and Smith-Brewer were neck and neck in the 200-meter dash as well, this time with Kordah edging Smith-Brewer by .44 seconds with a time of 23.33 seconds and a sixth-place finish. Smith-Brewer finished in eighth with a time of 23.77, while
Phil Putratz (FY, Mazeppa, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa) finsihed 16th with a time of 24.19.Â
Chase Grieves (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn.) finished third in the 400-meter dash in 51.19 seconds, and
Fabien Dubbe (SO, New Prague, Minn.) finished seventh with a time of 52.27.
Continuing to round out the stong showing for the Auggies was the middle-distance trio of
Luke Iverson (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.),
Mohamed Mohamed (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and
Luke Erickson (FY, Chippewa Falls, Wis.) who all finished in the top 10 in the 600-meter run. Iverson finished third with a time of 1:24.54, while Mohamed crossed fifth and Erickson seventh with times of 1:26.41 and 1:29.10 respectively.Â
Michaele Tesema (Burnsville, Minn.) had two top-five finishes in distance events -- fourth in the 3,000-meter run (8:47.81) and fifth in the mile run (4:28.66)
The Auggies will be back in action Saturday (2/1) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Warren Bowlus Open in Menomonie, Wis.
