MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College women's hockey team will depart on Saturday (1/27) for its third-ever international trip, a 10-day excursion to Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The team will play three games against international opponents and tour historic and cultural sites on the trip.

Augsburg will play its first game in Kitzbuhel, Austria on Monday (12/29), then will face HC Bolzano in Bolzano, Italy on Tuesday (12/30). The Auggies' final game will be in Lugano, Switzerland next Saturday (1/3).

The Auggies will leave Minneapolis and arrive in Munich, Germany, where they will spend their first three days. In addition to the hockey games, the Auggies will tour Munich, Dachau, Germany, and Kitzbuhel, Austria. From there, the team will transition to Bolzano, Italy, where it will be headquartered for four days, touring northern Italy. The team will spend its final three days in the Lake Como (Italy) area, where it will visit Milan, Italy, Lugano, Switzerland and Turin, Italy. The team will leave Milan and return to Minneapolis on Jan. 5.

"Our team is excited to resume the Auggie Hockey tradition of traveling to Europe," said Augsburg Head Coach Michelle McAteer. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our student-athletes to compete, tour and experience four countries in 10 days. We are grateful to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts to make this happen."

This is the third international trip for the Augsburg women's hockey team in its 20-season history. The Auggies traveled to Italy and Austria in the 2003-04 season, and traveled to Germany, Austria and Italy in the 2007-08 season.
