NORTHFIELD, Minn.-- The distance medley relay team set a new indoor school record and finished in first place with a time of 10:35.46, while
Undre Smith-Brewer (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) continued his strong season and picked up two victories at the Carleton Meet of Hearts on Saturday afternoon. The Auggies had seven finishers in the top-five, and finished the day with 19 indoor personal records. Team scoring placed Augsburg fifth of five teams.
The distance medley relay team of
Luke Iverson (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.),
Barinedum Kordah (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS),
Mohamed Mohamed (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and
Micheale Tesema (JR, Burnsivlle, Minn.) posted an impressive performance outpacing their competition on their way to a school record and first-place finish.
Smith-Brewer streaked across the finish line in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.59 seconds for a new personal record and a first-place finish, while
Phil Putratz (FY, Mazeppa, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) picked up his highest finish of the season (fourth) and personal record of his own with a time of 6.78. The pair finished in identical places in the 200-meter dash with times of 22.93 and 23.78 seconds respectively. Smith-Brewer's 200-meter dash time was also a personal record. Seven other sprinters ran their best races earning personal records in the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes:

Adding to the Auggies personal record total for the day was
Zach Richards (FY, Brookston, Minn./South Ridge HS) in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:50.42.
Luke Erickson (FY, Chippewa Falls.) has carried over his strong season from cross country to the track and finished in fifth-place in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:37.66. Andrew McGillivary (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) and
Chris Huss (FY, Jordan, MInn./Jordan HS) have also carried over success in cross country to the indoor track, competing in the 3000-meter run and finished with times of 9:33.41 and 9:53.89 respectively. McGillivary's time is a new indoor personal record.
First-year
Walter Foster-Bolton competed in the high jump and cleared 5'4.25", which was good enough to place him in a tie for sixth.
Bainedum Kordah added to his career day and was the best long jumper at the meet, picking up his second first-place finish and a new personal record with a leap of 22'1". Foster-Bolton finished ninth with a jump of 17'8.25".
Matt Green (FY, Victoria, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) threw a new personal best and finished in second-place in the shot put with a toss of 46'3.5". Green's weight throw of 44'8.25" placed him in seveth, while
Danny Buege (FY, Stillwater, Minn.) finished in ninth with a personal record throw of 41'9.75".
Jesse Kuusisto (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had a great meet in the field picking up two new personal records while placing fifth in the shot put with a throw of 40'10.25", and tossed the weight 40'1.5".
The Auggies will return to action next Saturday (2/22) as they travel to participate in the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open.
