Jones picks up two victories at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn.-- First-year Callie Jones earned victories in the 55-meter dash and the long jump Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Center in the Carleton Meet of Hearts. Six teams competed and while the Auggies saw nine pick up top-five finishes, they finished the day in sixth place. The Auggies depth will be a source of strength down the road as they had 20 competitors finish the day with personal records. 

Jones crossed the finish line in 7.70 seconds in the 55-meter dash for her first win of the day and a new personal record, while Molley Allen (JR, Stillwater, Minn.) and Ashley Waalen (FY, Amery, Wis.) also recorded personal records and finished in third and fifth with times of 7.86 and 7.93 respectively. Olivia Muyres (SO, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) ran her best race of the year and finished with a new personal record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.09 seconds, good enough for eighth place. Marta Anderson (FY, Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) recorded a personal record in the 55-meter dash as well with a time of 8.50 seconds. 

Allen picked up her second top-five finish of the day in the 200-meter dash crossing the finish line in fourth, and a new personal record, with a time of 27.50 seconds. Kai Mason (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Waalen crossed neck and neck with times of 28.11 and 28.27 in sixth and seventh respectively, while also finishing with new personal records. Anderson and Muyres crossed with identical times of 29.42, which is also a personal record for each of them. 

Kayla Roberge (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Holy Angels HS) added to the Auggies top-five finishes with a third-place finish of her own, and a personal record in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:41.08. First-year Katie Davidson's 800-meter run time of 2:48.92 was a personal record for her, while Emma Blom (FY, Culver, Minn./South Ridge HS) and Taybri Irving (FY, Rosemount, Minn.) both recorded personal record times in the 1-mile run with times of 5:42.94 and 5:43.98 respectively. 

Mason's top finish of the day came in the 55-meter hurdles as she placed fourth with a time of 8.99 seconds, which was also a new personal record. Jones' second victory of the day came in the long jump as she leaped to a new personal record of 15'9.75". First-year Makayla Hubbard had another strong showing in the shot put, finishing second with a toss of 43'7.25". Hubbard competed in the weight throw as well recording a personal record and sixth-place finish with a throw of 44'8.75".

The distance medley relay team of Roberge, Anderson, Irving, and Lauren Rice ((SR, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) finished in second-place with a time of 12:43.97.

In yesterday's meet at St. Thomas, Rice broker her own school record in the 5000-meter run by 28 seconds, finishing in second-place in a very competitve meet with a time of 17:40.93. She is currently ranked 17th in the nation. 

The Auggies will return to action next Saturday (2/22) as they travel to participate in the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open.
