COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Scoring victories in eight of 10 bouts, including the final five in a row, the No. 7-ranked Augsburg College wrestling team claimed a 28-9 triumph over No. 21-ranked Saint John's University in a wrestling dual meet on Sunday afternoon at Saint John's.

Leading 12-9 after five bouts, Augsburg (7-5) claimed wins in the final five bouts of the match over the Johnnies (9-11), including a 13-2, major-decision victory by Tommy Teigen (JR, Ham Lake, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian HS) at 184 pounds. Teigen is now 19-10 on the season, having won six of his last seven matches.

No. 4-ranked 125-pounder Mike Fuenffinger (JR, Hibbing, Minn.) improved to 26-3 with his sixth pin of the season, a 5:24 decision over John Wells. Fuenffinger is now 69-20 in his Augsburg career with 15 pins, winning 15 of his last 17 matches.

Top-ranked and two-time defending national champion heavyweight Chad Johnson (SR, Ferryville, Wis./De Soto HS) ended the match with a 7-1 win over John Scepaniak, improving to 26-1 on the season and 131-14 in his career. A three-time All-American, Johnson is now 99-3 since the beginning of his sophomore year, and has not lost to a DIvision III opponent since his initial season.

Matt Hechsel (JR, Apple Valley, Minn.), ranked No. 5 at 197 pounds, scored a 3-0 win over Ryan Michaelis to improve to 26-7 overall and 80-36 in his Auggie career. Will Keeter (JR, Twin Falls, Idaho) moved to 24-14 on the season with a 9-7, overtime victory over Joe Hessing at 149. Keeter, now 93-43 in his career, is 10-4 since moving to 149 pounds from 157, with a 7-1 mark in his last eight bouts.

Chad Bartschenfeld (JR, Amery, Wis.) scored a 6-4 victory for the Auggies at 133 pounds. Justin Bowland (SR, Foley, Minn.) scored a 6-1 win over fellow Foley native Brandon Seppelt at 165, giving Bowland his 20th win of the season. Tyrell Martin (JR, Eagan, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) claimed a 10-8 win at 174.

The Johnnies' two wins came from Ryan Arne, ranked No. 10 nationally at 157, who claimed a disqualification victory, and Ben Henle at 141.

Augsburg's White Team (junior varsity) won seven of 10 matches, including pins by James Goman (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Trinity-River Ridge HS) at 125 and Justin Flores (FY, Owatonna, Minn.), to score a 31-10 victory.

Augsburg closes its regular season on Friday (2/21) at 7 p.m., with a dual meet against Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Si Melby Hall.
