Eight Auggies claim top-five finishes at Macalester

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kayla Roberge (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Holy Angels) and Callie Jones (FY, Waubeka, Wis./Random Lake HS) led the way for the Augsburg College women's track and field team at the Pre-MIAC meet held at Macalester's Leonard Center on Saturday afternoon. The Auggies finished with 55 points for fifth place with eight athletes picking up top-five finishes. 

Roberge won the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:20.99, while Jones claimed first place honors in the long jump with a distance of 4.97 meters. Jones also picked up a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.26 seconds. Ashley Waalen (FY, Amery, Wis.) crossed the finish line right behind Jones in the 60-meter dash in fourth place with a personal record time of 8.44 seconds. 

Other top finishers were Augsburg included Lauren Rice (SR, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS), Molly Allen (JR, Stillwater, Minn.), Kai Mason (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mouns View HS) and Makayla Hubbard (FY, LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township HS). (3rd, shot put, 13.04m) Rice finished second in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:10.15. Allen's 200-meter time of 27.17 was good enough for third, while Mason crossed the finish line fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.59. Hubbard continued her strong first-year campaign in the shot put with a toss of 13.04 meters, garnering her a third place finish.

The MIAC Championships are set for next Friday and Saturday (March 7-8) at St. John's University.
