Hubbard second at outdoor opener in California

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Makayla Hubbard lead the Augsburg women's track and field team at the Point Loma Nazarene Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet on Saturday with a second place finish in the shot put. Hubbard recorded a distance of 39'9.75", better than 23 other athletes in the competitive field. The Auggies recorded 19 personal records on the day.

Callie Jones finished the 100-meter dash in 15th with a time of 13.16, while Molly Allen crossed 22nd with a time of 13.45. Tina Angok finishe with a time of 14.65. Jones recorded a 19th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.24. Cate Fritz competed in the 400-meter dash and finished with a time of 1:10.54. 

Kayla Roberge ran well in the 1500-meter run, finishing in seveth place with a time of 4:49.03. Also competing in the race were Taybri Irving, Emma Blom, Anna Peterson and Kaie Davidson who finished with times of 5:07.87, 5:20.85, 5:32.64 and 5:37.94. 

Tina Angok competed in the high jump and cleared 4'7", good enough for 14th place. Jones completed her busy afternoon competing in the long jump and recorded a distance of 16'4.5", which placed her in 10th. Kali Kuusisto's discus throw of 98'2" garnered her a 10th place finish as well, while Kuusisto's distance of 116'2" in the hammer throw placed her 11th. Andrea Heil recorded a distance of 58'7" inthe javelin throw. 

The Auggies are scheduled to travel to Collegeville, Minn. to compete in the Saint John's University Invite on Saturday (3/29).
