Augsburg football announces 2014 recruiting class

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College football team is anticipating the addition of 50 first-year athletes and transfers to the 2014 roster, head coach Frank Haege has announced.

The newcomers will join an Auggie squad that is coming off a 5-5 finish in 2013, Augsburg's third straight season with five or more victories. The Auggies will open the 2014 campaign on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field, hosting Wartburg (Iowa).
 
Here is a look at the 2014 Augsburg football recruiting class. The players listed have made deposits to attend Augsburg College this fall. Photos and most of the information used in this story have been provided by the recruits and their families.
 
Mustafa Adam
Mustafa Adam (River Falls, Wis.), linebacker (5-10, 200): All-conference honorable mention in senior season at River Falls … Team captain and Academic Honor Roll … Recorded 75 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in senior season … Competed in football and wrestling at River Falls.
Lars Allen
Lars Allen (Benton, Ill.), defensive back (6-1, 170): Starting cornerback in 8 of 9 regular-season games in senior year … Senior captain … Recorded 36 tackles (28 solo), with 3 interceptions, 6 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery in senior year.
Henry Bernet
Henry Bernet (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephens HS), offensive lineman/long snapper (6-1, 235): Offensive line starter senior season … Team's long/short snapper from sophomore to senior year, going 100 percent on all snaps all 3 years … Recorded 8 tackles in senior season on special teams … Coaches Award honoree first year … Team co-captain senior year.
Jacob Bom
Jacob Bom (Minnetonka, Minn.), defensive back (5-11, 185): Started 9 games in two seasons for Minnetonka … In senior season, recorded 56 tackles (34 solo), with an interception, forced fumble and 3 fumble recoveries … 2013 recipient of Minnetonka's "Maxie Award," given to a senior football player who shows compassion, commitment, competitiveness, leadership and generosity … Football and track letterwinner at Minnetonka.
Nahjai Brown (Roseville, Minn.), defensive back (5-9, 160): 2-year varsity letterwinner at Roseville … Received "Raider of the Year" award … Member of team that advanced to state tournament semifinals in 2013.
Clayton Byrd
Clayton Byrd (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS), linebacker (6-1, 225): All-Northwest Suburban Conference honorable mention in 2013 … 2-year varsity contributor at linebacker, starting all games his senior year … Recorded 39 tackles (11 solo), with 4 tackles for-loss, 1 fumble recovery, 2 forced fumbles and 3 passes defended.

Ray Carter
Raymond Carter (Jordan, Minn.), linebacker (6-0, 220): 2-time All-Minnesota River Conference selection … Varsity starter as both linebacker and fullback both junior and senior seasons … Finished with 102 career tackles, 3 sacks, 5 tackles for-loss, 580 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns … 2-time All-Section linebacker … Member of section champion football squad … Team captain … Also state tournament qualifier in wrestling.
Jordan DeCroock
Jordan DeCroock (Farmington, Minn.), wide receiver (5-10, 170): Earned All-Missota Conference honorable-mention honors in 2013 … Starter at WR both junior and senior seasons … In senior year, caught 35 passes for 379 yards (10.8 ypc) and 5 TDs, while rushing 21 times for 135 yards (6.4 ypc) and 1 TD … Also returned 13 kickoffs for 309 yards (23.8 ypr) with a TD … Played football, baseball and basketball at Farmington.
Casey Deloach
Casey DeLoach (Chaska, Minn.), offensive lineman (5-10, 180): 3-year letterwinner as offensive lineman at Chaska HS … Team reached Minnesota Class 5A state tournament in 2013 … Also involved in martial arts.
Zach Dent
Zackary Dent (Brighton, Colo.), linebacker (6-0, 170): Started 9 games in senior year at outside linebacker … 36 tackles, including 2 for-loss, and a fumble recovery in 2013 … 3-year letterwinner in football … President of Brighton HS student government during past 2 school years.
Austin Drugatz
Austin Drugatz (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly HS), defensive back (5-8, 170): 2-year starter at defensive back … Recorded 34 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 22 pass breakups in senior year … Had 8 interceptions in junior season … Had school-record 96-yard fumble return for TD, with forced fumble and recovery, in his career.
Jorden Gannon
Jorden Gannon (Roseville, Minn.), wide receiver (6-3, 190): All-conference honorable mention in 2013 … Caught 24 passes for 369 yards and 6 touchdowns in senior year … Voted team's Most Improved Player in 2013 … Part of Roseville team that reached state tournament semifinals in senior season.
Yasir Gayre (Richfield, Minn.), defensive lineman: Competed in both football and wrestling at Richfield HS.
Ryan Gowen
Ryan Gowen (Farmington, Minn.), offensive line (6-2, 265): Started every game on offensive line from sophomore to senior year, also playing on defensive line in goal-line situations … Also served as long snapper and field-goal snapper all 3 years.
Noah Grimm (Westosha, Wis./Westosha Central HS), wide receiver (6-0, 150): Two-year varsity letterwinner in football, three-year letterwinner in wrestling … Appeared in all nine regular-season games in football in senior season, starting three at wide receiver.
Kyle Hammontree (Goodyear, Ariz./Desert Edge HS), defensive lineman (5-11, 230): 2-year starter on defensive line … All-conference honorable mention … 2013 Division III All-Section 3 second team …  Teams won conference, region and section titles in both 2012 and 2013, finishing second in state tournament in 2012 … Recorded 55 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 9 quarterback hurries in senior year … Lettered in football, wrestling and track and field at Desert Edge.
Tom Hannaman (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS), offensive lineman (6-5, 220): All-St. Paul City Conference in both 2012 and 2013 … Team captain and offensive line MVP senior season … Started on both offensive line and defensive line for 28 games from sophomore to senior year … Also team's long snapper and on kickoff return team … 23 tackles (5 solo) in junior year, 59 tackles (20 solo) in senior year … Also 8 tackles for-loss and 4 sacks (74 yards) in career.
Chris Hanson
Chris Hanson (New Prague, Minn.), defensive line (6-4, 220): Transfer from Ridgewater College, where he earned Minnesota College Athletic Conference All-Division second-team honors in 2013 … Recorded 32 tackles (19 solo) in 2013, including 8 sacks, tied for 13th-most among NJCAA players nationally … Had 42 tackles (29 solo) in senior season at New Prague HS, including 12 tackles for-loss, 12 QB hurries and a safety … Played football, basketball and tennis in HS.
Deontae Heuer

Isaac Hove

Shawn Jagdeo
Shawn Jagdeo (Richfield, Minn.), defensive back (5-10, 170): 2-year starter at both defensive back and wide receiver … Recorded 28 tackles, 1 interception and 3 pass breakups during senior season, along with 26 receptions as wide receiver … Football and track letterwinner at Richfield.
Prince Kanu (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), running back (5-9, 200): Transfer from North Dakota State College of Science … Played in 6 games in 2012 for NDSCS, rushing 6 times for 87 yards and 2 TDs … High school all-conference selection in 2010, honorable mention in 2009 … Rushed for 967 yards in 2010 … Rushed for more than 3,000 yards in high school career, along with more than 600 receiving yards … Also played basketball and track and field at Armstrong HS.
Cameron Kelly
