Peper named MIAC Volleyball Hitter of Week

8589MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College right-side hitter Ashley Peper (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Hitter of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

Peper averaged 4.00 kills, 2.31 digs and 0.54 blocks per-set, while hitting .281 in four victories for Augsburg at its own invitational over the weekend, leading the Auggies to a 6-2 start to the season. She had double-digit kill totals in each match, including a 16-kill effort while hitting .424 in a sweep of UW-Eau Claire to end the tournament. Peper added three service aces, 30 digs and seven blocks on the weekend.

On the season, Peper is leading the MIAC in overall statistics in kills (104) and kills per-set (3.85), while also leading the league in points (113.5) and points per-set (4.2). Her 263 total attacks are second-most, and she ranks 14th in attack percentage (.278). She also has 59 digs (2.19 per-set), 10 blocks (one solo, 0.37 per-set) and six service aces.

Ranked No. 22 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III national poll, the Auggies return to action on Wednesday (9/10) at 7 p.m., hosting Wisconsin-Stout at Si Melby Hall.
