No. 6 Augsburg upsets No. 3 Concordia

MINNEAPOLIS -- Winning seven of 10 bouts, the No. 6-ranked Augsburg College wrestling team claimed a 26-12 upset victory over No. 3-ranked Concordia College-Moorhead in a dual meet on Friday night at Si Melby Hall. With the win, the Auggies move to 8-3 on the season, while the Cobbers fall to 10-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg (8-3 overall), ranked No. 6 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, claimed a convincing 26-12 victory over No. 3 ranked Concordia-College Moorhead (10-5 overall).
• Defending 125-pound national champion Mike Fuenffinger (SR, Hibbing, Minn.), ranked No. 1 nationally in the Division III national rankings at 125, earned a key 8-0 major decision to start the match for the Auggies. Fuenffinger scored a crucial near-fall in the final 20 seconds to seal the major decision.
• No, 9-ranked Chad Bartschenfeld (SR, Amery, Wis.) improved to 19-7 on the season at 133 pounds with a convincing 7-3 victory.
• No. 10-ranked Will Keeter (SR, Twin Falls, Idaho) picked up a key victory for the Auggies at 149 pounds with a sudden-victory overtime decision over Yonas Gebreab.
Eric Hensel (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored a key victory for the Auggies at 174 upsetting No. 7-ranked Sebastian Gardner with a 12-10 decision.
Tommy Teigen (SR, Ham Lake, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian HS) picked up the big pin of the night, claiming a fall over Brandon Larson in 4:08. 
• No. 7-ranked 197-pounder Matt Hechsel (SR, Apple Valley, Minn.) picked up a key bonus point win for the Auggies with an 8-0 major decision over Danny Pike. The major decision was the fifth of the season for Hechsel and 18th of his career.

Donny Longendyke (SO, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), ranked No. 7 at heavyweight, claimed a 3-1 sudden-victory overtime decision over Justice Davis. With the win, Longendyke moves to 27-2 on the season.

FOR THE FOES
• The Cobbers picked up decisions at 141 and 157 and a pin at 165.
• Two of the Cobbers' ranked wrestlers picked up wins, as No. 5 Jacoby Bergeron scored an 2-0 decision at 141, and No. 3 Jake Krogstad scored a 4:40 pin at 165.
• Ben Cousins scored the other Cobber victory at 157 with a 3-1, sudden-victory overtime decision.
