MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Augsburg College volleyball team improved to 15-5 overall with a three-set sweep over the University of St. Thomas in a critical Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Si Melby Hall on Homecoming Saturday. The Auggie offense was running on all cylinders, finishing with an attacking percentage of .298 compared to the Tommies .080.

HOW IT HAPPENED• The Auggies earned the sweep with great team defense, recording 11 blocks and 48 digs, while also being very efficient offensively with on 14 errors compared to St. Thomas' 24.Â
• Augsburg won the first two sets by an identical score of 25-21, then ran away with the third set. It was tied at 10-10 before the Auggies scored 15 of the last 19 points to finish off the Tommies by a score of 25-14.Â
• The Auggies were led by
Ashley Peper (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) with 13 kills, 14 digs, and six blocks (one solo). All of those numbers were match-highs. Peper also finished with an attack percentage of .400, with only three errors on 25 attempts.Â

Jordan Weeding (SO, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS) was on fire with an attack percentage of .526, as she tallied 10 kills with zero errors in 19 attempts. Weeding added two solo blocks as well.Â

Jaelyn Arndt (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) came up big on the outside with nine kills and an attack percentage of .333, with only two errors in 21 attempts.Â

Courtney Lemke (JR, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) and
Morgan Malley (FY, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) split the setting duties for the Auggies, finishing with 23 and 14 assists respectively.
Macey Terhell (FY, Osceola, Wis.) anchored the Auggie defense with 12 digs, while
Taylor Linn (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) chipped in five blocks. Â

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE• Both the 2013 and 2014 seasons ended with these two teams sharing the MIAC regular season title.Â
• In 2014, the Auggies snapped a 23-match losing streak to the Tommies when they won a five-set thriller at Schoenecker Arena on Wednesday Oct. 22.
• The sweep today marks Augsburg's first sweep of St. Thomas since a 3-0 win at St. Thomas on Oct. 7, 1985.

FOR THE FOES• Brooke Reichart led the Tommies with 10 kills and hit .208 with two blocks in the match.
• Rebecca Hawkins finished with 15 assists, while Katharine Mallak recorded 11.
