MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College athletics fans can give to one of several projects to help support the college and its athletic programs on Thursday, Nov. 12 for the annual Minnesota Give To The Max Day.

There are 35 projects supported by Augsburg and its alumni, faculty and staff, including several athletic projects. Check out all the projects at the site linked here. Your gift to any of these projects counts toward Augsburg's Give to the Max Day fundraising totals. Our goal is to come in first place among all Minnesota colleges and universities for the second straight year. Schedule your gift for Nov. 13 to make your gift count as part of Augsburg's Give to the Max Day totals, or save the date and give on Nov. 13 to make your gift and help Auggies Give to the Max.

Here is a list of athletic-related projects; click on the link to give or for more information. A full list of projects is available by clicking here.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Si Melby Hall Gymnasium Renovation
After replacing new turf on Edor Nelson field, adding a state-of-the-art scoreboard, renovating a hospitality suite in Si Melby Hall, and upgrading the weight room with new flooring and equipment, we are now declaring 2015, "The Year of the Gymnasium!" We are adding Auggie wall pads to both ends of the courts and the bleachers, new scorer's tables, and re-branding the entire gym. It will be another source of Auggie Pride on our campus. To get this project started, Scott Anderson '76 has offered to match our Give to the Max donations up to $10,000! We hope you will please consider a gift to our Si Melby Gymnasium enhancements.

BASEBALL
Augsburg College Baseball is raising funds to provide a new batting cage and an opportunity for a Spring Break training trip down in Tucson, Arizona.  It has been a tradition for over 25 years for Augsburg Baseball to take the entire team on our training trip. The trip provides many benefits for the program as well as the players, both as athletes and individuals. Such benefits include: team bonding, the ability to play outside in warm climate, skill development, and positive outcomes for recruiting and retention. In previous years, the student-athletes have been responsible for fundraising or financing the training trip on their own. Last year was our first time participating in Give to the Max, and we were able to raise over $19,000! This not only allowed us to take the entire team down to Arizona, but it also made it possible to purchase a brand new, professional grade, on-field batting cage. With strong support last year, we are setting the goal just a little higher at $20,000 to help relieve the financial burden so our student-athletes can experience the training trip with their teammates. If our goal is met, your generous donations will also provide the program the ability to purchase a safer and more efficient batting cage at Parade Stadium. Both of these items will be able to provide these young men with an extremely memorable experience and allow them to develop as ballplayers and as responsible adults.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
This year brings with it plenty of excitement and high expectations as we return 81 percent of our scoring and 86 percent of our rebounding from last year's team. 6-7 sophomore, All-MIAC First-Year performer Collin Olmscheid returns along with seven seniors, four of which started last year in Joe Zangel, Brett Rasmussen, Ryan Gilmer, and Brandon Little. We are looking to build upon our success and come back even stronger. We plan to represent Augsburg with a pledge to blue-collar hard work, sacrifice and a commitment to the entire Augsburg community. Through our determination, we remain dedicated to turning Augsburg men's basketball into a nationally competitive power. Over the past seven seasons, our program has produced the second highest win total in the MIAC. This is a statistic we're all very proud of, and one that we intend to continue to build upon. In order for us to achieve the goals we've set, we ask you to continue to support the Augsburg men's basketball family. Due to increased support in recent years, we've been able to travel to various locations around the United States, giving our student-athletes valuable experiences they will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much for your support and we hope to see you at Si Melby Hall this season.

MEN'S/WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Who: The Mens' and Womens' Cross Country Teams.
What:  Raise $15,000 so we can race in a foreign country!  The $15,000 will help pay for airfare.
When: DONATE ON NOV. 12. GIVE TO THE MAX DAY!!
Why: We want to give our student-athletes a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to compete against international competition and see what life is like in a foreign country. In addition to racing, the Auggies will get to interact with the local communities we visit and give back through community service. This is a major theme of the Augsburg College mission statement and helps our student-athletes fulfill the service learning part of the Augsburg Core Curriculum.  Not only will the student-athletes get this rare experience, they will also be eligible to earn college credit by fulfilling their Augsburg Experience.
How: By donating on Give To The Max Day, November 12th!

MEN'S/WOMEN'S GOLF
The golf teams at Augsburg are planning to get out of the cold and onto the golf course this March for spring break! The women are headed to play in the California Lutheran Invite on March 13-15 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The men are dreaming of heading to Hawaii, but are likely headed to Dallas, Texas to compete from March 16-21. Thank you for helping us to get there!

MEN'S HOCKEY
We are excited to invite you back to join our team and become a member of the Auggie Blueline Club through Give to the Max Day! On our mission to continue the rich tradition of excellence in hockey, academics, and life, at Augsburg College, it is essential that we seek various ways to support Auggie men's hockey. The purpose of the Auggie Blueline Club is two-fold ... To continue building a foundation of support, while also maintaining a strong connection with our hockey alumni and our many supporters of Auggie men's hockey. This initiative will become instrumental in helping us compete for MIAC championships like Auggie teams of the past! We hope you will consider joining our team, staying connected, and helping us build on the tradition of excellence both on and off the ice!

MEN'S SOCCER
The Augsburg men's soccer program is joining Augsburg College in trying to raise more money than any other Minnesota college for a third consecutive year in the Annual Give to the Max Day, on Thursday, Nov. 12. Last year, we were able to raise enough money to replace all of our old winter coats and travel bags, and replace the carpet in our locker room. This year's fundraised dollars will go toward our trip to Los Angeles to open the season in 2016 at California Lutheran University. This will be our first trip back to California since our historic NCAA second-round win over Redlands in 2008. For those on that team, and the team that traveled to Santa Cruz in 2005, you will remember how important these trips were in tightening the bond of our soccer family. From the "Positive Energy Van" and "Birthday" dinner in Monterey Bay to the poolside "Sweet 16" celebration with several of our players' families at Ayres Hotel before catching a 6 a.m. flight -- these trips are memorable for more reasons than we can ever imagine. It is because of the support from donors like you that we have been able to provide such an incredible experience for our student-athletes. Please consider making a gift that will help us share these life-changing moments with the next generation of Auggies. In addition, we still have naming rights available for 18 locker stalls as well. For all gifts of $1,000, the donor will be recognized permanently with a name plate on the locker: as individuals (John Smith), as teams (1980 MIAC champions), as classmates (Class of 2003), etc. We hope to continue giving our athletes the best experience possible. Thank you for your consideration!

WOMEN'S SOCCER
In January 2014, the Augsburg women's soccer team traveled to Nicaragua. When given the choice between Nicaragua and a pre-packaged beach vacation to more affluent areas, the Augsburg women's soccer players chose service over comfort. The trip was a balance of community engagement, reflective service work, soccer and recreation. The trip was a meaningful experience that left the team more grateful, humble and globally aware. As one of the 2013 senior captains, Alekzandra Miller, put it: "It's hard to say how much of an impact we were able to make in just eight days, but I can say for certain that our team was impacted for the better. These types of experiences are the kind of catalysts that give a direction to people's lives, that spark a new type of gratitude, that change the way we think about and live our lives." Now, we are asking for your support to send the 2017-2018 Augsburg women's soccer team back to Nicaragua. For the 2014 trip, the team was able to raise $20,000 through soccer camps, a letter campaign, and an online auction. Our hope is that through the addition of Give To The Max, we will be able to add another $15,000 to our team fund over the next four years, cutting the cost for each player by about $500. Please consider supporting our cause by donating on or scheduling a donation for Nov. 12 to help Augsburg College raise more money than any other college in Minnesota for the second consecutive year.

MEN'S/WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Augsburg track and field has had an amazing history over the years! There have been many NCAA qualifiers, All-Americans, national champions, and even a national record-holder! We want to continue this rich tradition and build on it going forward! Some of the things that have helped make the experience so special for our track athletes has been the ability to go on a spring break training trip! This year we are going to Tampa, Fla., and training at the University of South Florida for the week. On Friday of that week, we are competing at USF's Invitational. We also are purchasing some new uniforms this year! So all of your donations help support being able to do things like this for the team! It also gives us the ability to travel to bigger meets like Drake Relays and have money for hotels! Those experiences are what really stand out in our athletes minds, years down the line after they have left Augsburg.  Those meets are also what set our athletes up to have the best chance to qualify to NCAAs! We want to put our athletes in the best competitive opportunities possible and your donations help make that possible! So thank you in advance for your help and support!

VOLLEYBALL
We are thrilled to announce that the Augsburg volleyball program has received the largest financial donation in the history of Augsburg Women's Athletics.  Marilyn Pearson-Florian '76 and her husband Ken Florian recently donated $15,000 in hopes to spark a much-needed renovation of the volleyball locker room. Although we did not anticipate starting this project, or fundraising for it yet considering our recent fundraising efforts for Nicaragua, we could not be more grateful for the financial gift and commitment to the experience of our current and future volleyball student-athletes. After discussions with local contractors and viewing current men's locker rooms on campus that have been recently renovated, we have decided to move forward in renovations similar to the men's soccer and basketball locker rooms. Our goals include fundraising for a new ceiling, walls, lighting, proper audio-visual equipment, and new wood lockers. The college has dedicated funds to provide the room new carpet and paint, and our volleyball team worked hard this summer to raise dollars in our annual summer team camp as well.  But, like the men's sports teams, we will need the generosity of our alumnae and friends of the program to get this project done! ANY and ALL donations are accepted and appreciated, but we want you to know that a wood locker will be dedicated to any person and/or group of people that donate $1,000 to our efforts.  Your name or group of names will be professionally displayed on a locker nameplate in your honor. We are excited to discuss any inscription requests you have in mind. Work on the locker room is scheduled to start at the end of November and we plan to host an unveiling ceremony in conjunction with our annual alumnae game on Saturday, April 9. Mark your calendars and plan for a full afternoon/evening of fun! We are so honored to include you in our locker room renovation fundraising goals and appreciate any commitment you can give to the experience of our current and future volleyball student-athletes. We have big goals for the future and know this locker room will help us continue to both compete on the national level and provide the experience our volleyball team deserves. Thank you for your donations!

WRESTLING
The future of our team depends on the support of our alumni, friends and family. Our wrestlers continue to receive the best training in the country and it's all made possible through your support, which is why we are asking you to help with our annual pin pledge. Our pin pledge is a fundraiser which helps our wrestlers reach their potential on and off the mat. Your Auggies had many great accomplishments last year, and are looking to add to the historic Augsburg wrestling tradition this season. Please support our pin pledge by donating on this site. Pins that count towards the Auggie pin total are pins in varsity dual meets, pins at the West Regional and pins at the NCAA National Championships. Over the last three seasons, the Auggies have averaged 40 pins per season, so if you wanted to donate $1 dollar per pin, you would donate $40 on this site. Like last year, we are able to accept donations online by credit card. If you choose to pay online by credit card, you would need to do so on this site by Nov. 12. Augsburg College is competing against the other colleges in Minnesota to see who can fundraise more money on Give to the Max Day, which is Thursday, Nov. 12, and the wrestling pin pledge is helping to support the college on this day. 100 percent of your donations will go to Augsburg wrestling, but you will also be indirectly supporting Augsburg College in their Give to the Max day competition. Your support gives our wrestlers an advantage in achieving their academic and athletic goals. The continued success of our exceptional and historical program is directly benefited by your support. We hope that you will consider supporting Augsburg wrestling with a donation to our pin pledge. We thank you in advance for your continued support.
