Auggies compete at NCAA qualifier

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Eight different Augsburg College men's and women's track and field team members competed in five events at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Qualifier meet on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus Friday evening.

LOCATION: Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Callie Jones finished the 100-meter dash in fifth-place with a time of 12.45 seconds.
• Jones also recorded a personal best distance in the long jump (17'6.25") on her way to sixth-place. 
Abdul Salan led the way for the Auggie men, as he finished in fifth-place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:25.05. 
• All three Auggies that competed in the 800-meter run recorded personal bests as Luke Iverson (SR, Maple Grove, Minn.) led the way with a time of 1:58.21, while Ahmed Nur (SR, Edina, Minn.) and Luke Erickson (JR, Chippewa Falls, Wis.) finished less than a second apart at 2:01.49 and 2:01.91 respectively. 
Mohamed Mohamed (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) competed in the 1,500-meter run and finished with a time of 4:04.11, while Erickson recorded a time of 4:07.50, and Chriss Huss (SO, Jordan, Minn.) crossed the finish line in 4:28.87.

• The Auggies await the announcement of the national qualifiers on Sunday (5/17) to see if they will be traveling to Canton, N.Y. for the NCAA Division III National Championships which begin Thursday (5/21-23).
