Augsburg track and field opens indoor season

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College men's track and field team kicked started its indoor season with a great showing at the University of St. Thomas Opener meet at Anderson Fieldhouse on Friday. The Auggie men had one first-place and one second-place finish on their way to seven top-10 finishes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Undre Smith-Brewer (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) and Emmanuel Egbujor (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) got the afternoon off to a great start on Friday when they finished first and second in the 60-meter dash preliminaries respectively. They followed that up by flipping the finish order and earned first and second in the finals as well. Egbujor finished in first with a time of 6.95 seconds, while Smith-Brewer came in second with a time of 7.01. 
Preston Blake (SO, Champlin Minn./Champlin Park HS) competed in the 200-meter dash and finished fifth with a time of 23.62 seconds. 
• Sean Adams (Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) finished 10th in the long jump with a distance of 5.75 meters (18-feet-10.5)
• Jesse Kussisto (JR, Brooklyn Center/Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) was Augsburg's top performer in the shot put, finishing 10th with a distance of 12.76 meters (41-feet-10.5).
• Gunnar Melin (FY, Edina, Minn.) led the Auggies in the weight throw and finished ninth with a distance of 13.83 meters (45-feet-4.5).

UP NEXT
• The Auggies continue their indoor season next Saturday (1/23) at 1 p.m., competing at Macalester College.
