Irving claims Augsburg's 1st-ever MIAC cross country title

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Taybri Irving (SR, Rosemount, Minn.) became the first-ever Augsburg cross country runner to win a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individual title, winning the 6,000-meter women's race at the MIAC Championships on Saturday at Como Park Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Irving finished first in the 248-runner field with a collegiate-best 6K time of 22:32.9, becoming the first Auggie of either gender to ever win an MIAC title. The previous best-ever finish for an Augsburg women's cross country runner was in 1996, when Rebekah Ormsby finished fourth. 
• As a team, Augsburg finished 10th with 238 points.
Rachel Frantz (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) finished in 62nd place with a season-best time of 24:57.9. 
• Melana Larson (FY, Minnetonka, Minn.) and Blair Stewig (JR, Maple Lake, Minn.) also finished under the 30-minute mark, with times of 25:6.9 and 25:24.6 respectively. 
• Emma Blom (SR, Culver, Minn./South Ridge HS) and Caitlyn Olson (SO, Onamia, Minn.) finished with times of 25:29.9 and 28:21.0 respectively. 

FOR THE FOES
• St. Thomas won the MIAC team title with 50 points, while reigning champions Carleton came in second with 67 points.

• Augsburg competes at the NCAA Division III Central Regional on Nov. 12 at Carleton in Northfield, Minn.
