Egbujor leads Auggies at Meet of the Hearts

ST. THOMAS SHOWCASE RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg College men's track and field team returned to action at the Carleton Meet of Hearts as they finished fifth among eight teams, including four other Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, on Saturday afternoon.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emmanuel Egbujor (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) recorded a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash, finishing with a time of 6.50 seconds. His time of 6.95 seconds in The Opener is currently the fastest time in the MIAC in the 60-meter dash (Undre Smith-Brewer (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) holds the second best 60-meter dash time at 7.00 seconds). 
Preston Blake (SO, Champlin, Minn.) also recorded a top-10 finish with a time of 6.86 seconds, which was good enough for seventh.
• Egbujor recorded another second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.70 seconds. His time of 22.62 seconds at the Macalester Triangular is currently the fastest in the MIAC. 

• Smith-Brewer finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.24. His time is currently 10th-best in the conference. 
Mohamed Sharif (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.38 seconds. 
Sean Adams (SR, Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) competed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 10th with a time of 3:19.38.

• Adams also competed in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a distance of 11.48 meters (37-feet-8).
Michael Kantor (SR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) competed in the weight throw and finished fifth with a distance of 13.86 meters (45-feet-5). His throw at the Warren Bowlus Open of 47-feet-11.75 is currently 11th-best in the MIAC. 
Jesse Kuusisto (JR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) recorded a ninth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 13.38 meters (43-feet-10.75).
Damon Summer (FY, Owatonna, Minn.) was Augsburg's top runner in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:40.75. 
• Abdullahi Salan (JR, Burnsville, Minn.) competed in the 5,000 meter run at the St. Thomas Showcase on Friday evening and finished 17th with a time of 15:24.51.

• The Auggies will return to action on Friday (2/19) when they travel to compete in the University of Minnesota Parents Day Invite.
