Egbujor places third at NCAA Championships

10958GRINNELL, Iowa -- Augsburg College sprinter Emmanuel Egbujor (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) finished third in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 6.86 seconds on Saturday afternoon at Grinnell College.

Egbujor's third-place finish is tied for the best-ever NCAA Division III national finish for an Augsburg men's track and field athlete. Mathew Shannon placed third in the 2003 NCAA outdoor 400-meter dash finals. He is the fifth NCAA Division III All-American in Augsburg men's track and field history.

Egbujor qualified for the finals at the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field National Championships with the sixth-fastest time in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 6.84 seconds on Friday, breaking his old school record of 6.86 seconds. 

Egbujor entered the national championships with the fifth-fastest qualifying time among the 15 competitors in the men's 60-meter dash with his 6.86-second effort, set at the Macalester Kilt Classic on Feb. 26. He won Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles in the 200- and 400-meter dashes at the league championships last weekend.
