Auggies compete in final tune-up before MIAC Championships

MEET RESULTS

ST PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College men's track and field team, ranked No. 14 in the central region in the latest U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Division III computer national rankings, competed at the Hamline Meet of the Unsaintly on Friday and Saturday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In their final tune-up before the conference meet, the Auggies put together a strong performance. Emmanuel Egbujor (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn.Champlin Park HS) competed in one event, the 100-meter dash, which he won with a time of 10.73 seconds. Egbujor is currently ranked 10th in the nation in the 100-meter dash, 11th in the 200, and 18th in the 400. He ranks 1st in the conference in all three events. 
• Undre Smith-Brewer (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) trailed Egbujor by just 0.16 seconds and finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.89 seconds. Smith-Brewer is ranked third in the conference and 20th in the nation in the 100-meter dash. 
• Preston Blake (SO, Champlin, Minn.) crossed the finish line in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.55 seconds, good enough for fifth-place. Blake recorded the top Augsburg time in the 200-meter dash, recording 26th-place with a time of 25.15 seconds.
• Augsburg's 4x100-meter relay team of Blake, Smith-Brewer, Barinedum Kordah (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS), and Egbujor finished first with a time of 42.72 seconds.
• Mohamed Sharif (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) finished 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.49 seconds. 
•  Luke Erickson (SR, Chippewa Falls, Wis.) recorded a time of 2:03.11, good enough for 14th in the 800-meter run. 
• Mohamed Mohamed (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:03.68. Mohamed is ranked 10th in the MIAC in the event. 
• Ryan Moore (FY, Saint Michael, Minn.) competed in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 19th-place with a time of 17:25.70.  
• The Auggie 4x400-meter relay team of Wilson Musabyimana (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS), Ben Erickson (FY, Andover, Minn.), Luke Erickson, and Mohamed finished sixth with a time of 3:38.56. 
• Leading Augsburg in the field events was Kordah, who finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.96-meters (22-feet-10). 
• Jesse Kuusisto (JR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) was the top Auggie competitor in two field events, finishing seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.69-meters (41-feet-7.75) and 10th in the discuss throw with a distance of 42.53-meters (139-feet-06).
• Gennar Melin (FY, Edina, Minn.) recorded a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.50-meters (149-feet-03), while Tyler Rea (SO, Red Wing, Minn.) finished third in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.03-meters (141-feet-02). 

MIAC DECATHLON
• Sean Adams (Sr, Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) competed in the MIAC decathlon on Thursday and Friday, finishing in 13th with 4,906 total points. Complete results can be found here.

• Augsburg's next meet is on Saturday (5/14) in Collegeville, Minn. on the campus of Saint John's University for the MIAC Outdoor Championships.
