Kordah, Egbujor set school records at Snowshoe Open

MEET RESULTS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Barinedum Kordah (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) and Emmanuel Egbujor (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) set new school records on Friday, leading the Augsburg College men's track and field team at the University of Minnesota Snowshoe Open.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kordah claimed the event win in the men's long jump with a 7.00-meter (22-feet-11.75) effort on his first jump of the competition, breaking the old school record of 6.96 meters (22-feet-10), set by Nick Ward in 2010. His distance is the 23rd-best distance among NCAA Division III athletes nationally.
• Egbujor had tremendous performances on Friday in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes. Egbujor finished fourth in the 60-meter dash finals in a school-record 6.84-second time, while placing second in the 200-meter dash in 22.47 seconds. He broke his old school record in the 60 of 6.86 seconds, set last season. Egbujor's time in the 60 is the third-fastest time among Division III athletes nationally, while his 200-meter time is 36th-best.
• Meanwhile, teammate Undre Smith-Brewer (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) was just as successful in the sprints, recording a 6.90-second time in the 60-meter preliminaries before finishing fifth in 6.95 seconds in the finals. Smith-Brewer's 6.90-second time is 11th-fastest among Division III athletes nationally. He also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22.79 seconds.
• Egbujor's and Smith-Brewer's times in the 60-meter dash are the top two times among MIAC athletes, while their 200-meter dash times are second and fifth-best in the MIAC, respectively.
• Augsburg's 4x400-meter relay squad of Patrick Deng (FY, Crookston, Minn.), Smith-Brewer, Egbujor and Kordah finished fourth in 3:33.06.
• Deng recorded a 9.01-second finish in the 60-meter hurdles, just missing a spot in the finals with the 10th-fastest time in the preliminaries.
• Jesse Kuusisto (SR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) finished 13th in the weight throw with a 13.77-meter (45-feet-2.25) effort.
