Auggie women's track & field earns academic honor

2017 USTFCCCA DIVISION III TRACK AND FIELD ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College women's track and field team received All-Academic Team recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2016-17 school year, it was announced recently.

Under second-year head coach Emily Hackert, Augsburg's women's track and field team achieved a 3.52 team grade-point average in 2016-17 to earn the honor. Teams must have a 3.0 or better team GPA to qualify for the USTFCCCA honor. A total of 183 NCAA Division III women's track and field teams qualified for the academic award.

It is the third straight year that Augsburg's women's track and field team has earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award. The Auggies had a 3.35 team GPA in 2016 and a 3.25 team GPA in 2015.

As a team, Augsburg finished 12th at the 2017 MIAC Indoor Championships and 10th at the 2017 MIAC Outdoor Championships. Five Auggies earned Academic All-MIAC status for the indoor season and two Auggies were named Academic All-MIAC for the outdoor season.
