Taylor Linn named AVCA D-III National Player of Week

2017 AVCA DIVISION III NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University's Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was named as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Week for her accomplishments over the weekend, it was announced on Tuesday. It is the first time that an Augsburg player has ever earned AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honors.

A middle blocker, Linn recorded a team-best 53 kills (4.42 per-set), to go along with seven blocks (0.58 per-set) and 44 digs (3.67 per-set), to lead Augsburg to a 3-1 mark at its Augsburg Invitational over the weekend. She had two kill-dig double-doubles -- a 17-kill, 11-dig effort in a three-set sweep of Saint Benedict on Friday, and a 13-kill, 10-dig effort in a three-set sweep of No. 2-ranked Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday. Her .367 attack percentage on the weekend (53 kills, 13 errors in 109 attempts) was tops among all players in the tournament, and her 53 kills were second-most.

Linn was named to the Augsburg Invitational All-Tournament Team, and earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week honors on Monday.

On the year, Linn has 92 kills (3.83 per-set) on a .394 attack percentage for the 7-1 Auggies, to go along with 14 blocks (0.58 per-set) and 78 digs (3.25 per-set). Her 3.83 kills per-set average is third-best among MIAC players in overall statistics, while her .394 attack percentage is fourth-best. Her 104.5 points are fifth-most among MIAC players, with her 4.4 points per-set average third-best.

Augsburg opens MIAC play this Wednesday (9/13) at 7 p.m., with a match at St. Olaf. The Auggies will also play three matches at the Wartburg (Iowa) Tournament this weekend, facing host Wartburg on Friday (9/15) at 7:30 p.m., and Waldorf (Iowa) and Buena Vista (Iowa) on Saturday (9/16) at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
