2017 MIAC VOLLEYBALL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University's
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Setter/Libero of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Malley had an outstanding all-around weekend for Augsburg in the
Auggies' four wins in the Oregon Trail Classic, claiming 172 assists (11.47 per-set), to go along with 39 digs (2.60 per-set), seven blocks (0.47 per-set), 22 kills (1.47 per-set) on a .426 attack percentage, and five service aces (0.33 per-set). Her 172 assists were the most by any MIAC setter in this week's action.
She had 45 assists in a three-set sweep of WIllamette (Ore.) and 43 assists with 13 digs in a four-set win over Lewis & Clark (Ore.) on Friday, then recorded 58 assists and 14 digs in a five-set win over Whitworth (Wash.) and 26 assists in a sweep of George Fox (Ore.) on Saturday.
The 4-0 Auggies host four matches in the Augsburg Invitational this weekend at Si Melby Hall. This Friday (9/8), the Auggies will face Wisconsin-La Crosse at 3 p.m. and Saint Benedict at 7 p.m., and on Saturday (9/9), the Auggies will face Northwestern-St. Paul at 1 p.m. and St. Scholastica at 3 p.m.
