2017-18 MIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AWARDS
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University's
Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS),
Camryn Speese (SO, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) and
Bridget Bednar (JR, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS) earned women's basketball postseason honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday, McLemore and Speese earning All-MIAC honors and Bednar being named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

McLemore was an All-MIAC and All-MIAC Rookie Team selection last season, while Bednar earned All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team honors for the second straight year. The All-MIAC honor is the first for Speese.
A guard, McLemore led the team in scoring for the second straight year, averaging 13.7 points per-game, while pulling down 4.5 rebounds per-game. Her 58 steals were most on the team, and her 69 assists were second-most. She also connected on 36 three-pointers this season. She recorded double-digit scoring totals in 17 of her 23 games played this season, including five 20-plus-point games and one double-double.
Among MIAC players in overall statistics, McLemore finished 12th in points per-game (13.7), fourth in steals (58) and seventh in assists (69). Her 86 free-throws were fourth-most among MIAC players, with her 36 three-pointers 13th-most.
In 49 career games (48 starts), McLemore has scored 688 points, with her 14.0 points per-game average currently third-most in school history. Her 66 three-pointers are seventh-most, with her 174 free throws 11th-most.

Speese had another solid year in the post, averaging 10.6 points and a team-best 5.0 rebounds per-game, while also contributing 31 steals, 19 assists and nine blocked shots. She ranked 20th in points per-game among MIAC players and 19th in rebounds per-game. Her 68 free throws were 11th-most, as was her .464 free-throw percentage. She scored in double figures in 12 of her 22 games this season, while pulling down six or more rebounds in nine games, with one double-double.
In 48 career games (43 starts), Speese has scored 461 points (9.6 points per-game), while pulling down 266 rebounds (5.5 per-game). She has 70 career steals, 46 assists and 18 blocked shots. Her .452 career field-goal percentage (159-of-132) is currently seventh-best in school history.

For the second straight year, Bednar was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
This season, Bednar averaged 4.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per-game, starting all 24 games and playing 21.6 minutes per-game. She also contributed 19 steals, 16 assists and 15 blocked shots. Bednar scored in double figures in five game and had five or more rebounds in nine games.
In her 101-game career (56 starts), Bednar finished with 637 points (6.3 per-game), 435 rebounds (4.3 per-game), 86 assists, 96 steals and 46 blocked shots. Her .455 career field-goal percentage (264-of-580) is sixth-best in school history, and her 46 blocked shots are tied for 11th-most.
Under third-year head coach
Ted Riverso, Augsburg finished 12-12 overall and 8-10 in MIAC play in 2017-18, recording double-digit win totals five years in a row -- extending the longest streak of consecutive double-digit wins totals in the varsity history (since 1972) of Augsburg women's basketball. Riverso is now 41-34 in his three seasons at Augsburg.
