Amy Hyland Baretz, Class of 1987 … Amy Hyland Baretz will be remembered as one of the best pitchers in Augsburg softball history. In her four seasons of softball, she set a school record with 48 career victories, a record that still stands. Her 1.62 career earned-run average, 118 earned runs allowed and nine shutouts are all third-best in school history, and her 83 walks allowed remain the fewest by an Auggie veteran pitcher in school history. She’s also on Augsburg’s single-season school-record list in five different categories. She earned All-MIAC honors in both 1986 and 1987, and was a member of an Auggie squad that won the MIAC title and reached the NCAA Division III national tournament in 1984. She also played two years of volleyball at Augsburg. Amy earned her degree in communication from Augsburg in 1987 and joined her husband, Doug, in owning a collection of 21 Domino’s Pizza franchises in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, for which they have won several regional, national and world-wide awards. She has also coached at the youth, high school and college levels, and has also served her church and school system as a volunteer and board member. Amy and her husband, Doug, have three children -- Lance, Nicole and Jack -- and live in Franklin, Wisconsin.
