One of the best all-around athletes in Augsburg history, Richter shined as an athlete on both the volleyball and softball teams. In volleyball, she was a key member of Auggie squads that finished second in the MIAC three times, including the 1982 team that finished with a 29-14 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament. During her four years as a member of the Auggie volleyball program, Richter’s teams recorded an overall record of 113-57. She was the first volleyball player in school history to be named to the All-MIAC teams three consecutive seasons (1983-1985). As an infielder in softball, she was a three-year letterwinner, while earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in 1983. Richter currently ranks sixth in school history in career triples (7) and ninth in career doubles (24). During her softball career, Richter was a member of the 1983 and 1984 MIAC championship teams, advancing to the NCAA Division III national tournament twice. A psychology major, Richter was named as the 1986 Augsburg Senior Honor Athlete. Following graduation from Augsburg, Richter spent eight seasons coaching at the collegiate level, including a four-year stint as the head volleyball and softball coach at the University of South Dakota. She currently works as a lead business systems analyst with the United Parcel Service. The daughter of Chuck and Kay Richter, Anne currently resides in Atlanta, Ga., where she is still active on the mixed indoor and sand volleyball scene.
