Bill Gabler, Class of 1994 … Bill Gabler transferred to Augsburg in 1991 after attending Willmar Community College and Drake University, competing at Augsburg for two seasons in wrestling and football and one season of baseball. As an Auggie wrestler, he earned All-American honors twice, finishing fourth nationally at 177 pounds in both 1991 and 1992. He won the MIAC championship in 1992, and was a member of Auggie teams that won the program's first NCAA Division III national title in 1991 and finished runner-up in 1992. He later served as an assistant coach at Augsburg, helping guide the Auggies to NCAA national championships in 1993 and 1998. In football, Bill was a starting middle-linebacker for the Auggies. After a 131-tackle season, he was voted as the team’s Outstanding Defensive Player in 1992 before being selected as a team tri-captain in 1993. In baseball, Bill was the starting shortstop for the 1992 Auggie Baseball team, which finished third in the MIAC standings. Bill was a business administration major with a double emphasis in Marketing and Economics. Since 1997, Bill has enjoyed a career in sporting goods, fundraising and corporate promotions. Bill married Corinne Lindborg in 2004 and they are having a blast raising their three boys-- Zach, Cam and Ben. The son of Darlene Scott and the late Richard Gabler, Bill has two brothers Rick and Grant and sisters Nancy and Laura. Bill’s family resides in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
