Bill Kriesel, Class of 1996 … Bill Kriesel will be remembered as one of the top defensive backs in Augsburg football history. He snared 15 interceptions in his career, second-most in school history, including a single-season school-record eight in the 1993 season. He had 75 tackles in his debut season, when he was voted the team’s Best Freshman. He earned team MVP honors on defense in 1993, and earned All-MIAC first-team honors in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He was named as a preseason All-America in the 1994 campaign, and was a team co-captain in 1995. A chemistry major with a mathematics minor, Bill earned Academic All-MIAC honors in 1993. He graduated from Augsburg in 1996 and later earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix. He played three seasons of professional football in Germany, and also served three stints on the Augsburg football coaching staff, including the 1997 conference championship team. He was a part-owner of his family’s painting business for seven years and served as a business instructor at the Minnesota School of Business for three years. Since 2013, he has served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Bill and his wife, Nicci, have two children -- Macy and Shay -- and live in Cedar Park, Texas.
