It's fitting that twin brothers Bob and Ted Schultz are entering the Augsburg Athletic Hall of Fame at the same time, as both played key roles in one of the greatest stretches of Auggie football history. A four-year starter at linebacker, Bob Schultz earned All-MIAC first team honors in both his junior and senior seasons, while earning All-MIAC honorable mention honors his sophomore campaign. He finished his career with 267 tackles, to go along with two interceptions and two sacks. He recorded 107 tackles in the 1996 season, then had 79 tackles in 1997, including six tackles for loss, as part of the Augsburg squad that won the MIAC championship and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III national tournament, finishing 10-2. He was named the team's Outstanding Player on Defense in his senior year, along with receiving the team's Auggie Award. He earned team Most Improved Freshman honors in 1994 and the team's Most Improved Player award in 1995. Bob was an elementary education major at Augsburg, earning Academic All-MIAC Honor Roll honors his senior year. Bob later received his master's degree in secondary education from Saint Mary's. He has spent his career in education in the Wayzata School District, as a fifth-grade teacher at Birchview and Kimberly Lane elementary schools. He served as an assistant coach for the Wayzata football team for 20 years, before coaching his own kids in youth sports in the Delano area. He also has spent eight years leading a homeless shelter small group ministry through the Crow River Church in Delano.
