Brenda Selander Mitshulis was one of the best all-around athletes in Augsburg history, playing on the Auggies’ soccer, hockey and softball teams. As a forward in soccer, Brenda was one of the top scorers in the MIAC throughout her career, finishing with 15 goals and four assists for 34 points in her career, currently ranking 15th in school history in career goals. She was an All-MIAC honoree her senior season and All-MIAC Honorable Mention selection her junior year. In hockey, she was a member of some of the most successful Auggie teams in program history, teams that won the first two MIAC titles and played in the first-ever Division III national finals in Boston in 2000. She scored eight goals with 10 assists in her 73-game career. She also played two seasons of softball as an outfielder. She was a student-athlete mentor and earned the 2001 Augsburg Leadership in Women’s Athletics Award. She earned her degree in health and physical education from Augsburg in 2002, and since graduating, has coached soccer, hockey and track at the high school level. She has taught physical education, special education and health education, and currently serves as the Career and College Specialist at Coon Rapids High School. Brenda and her husband Ted have two children, Teddy and Lucy, and live in Champlin, Minnesota.
