A two-time NAIA All-American and two-time MIAC wrestling champion at 150 pounds (1979, 1980) Arvold earned the Carl Larson Trophy as the MIAC championship meet’s Outstanding Wrestler in 1979, and finished fourth nationally at 150 pounds in his junior and senior seasons. He was a team captain his senior year. He graduated in 1980 and went to work in the Augsburg admissions office. He served for four years as an assistant coach (1981-84) and served as wrestling head coach in the 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons, winning the MIAC championship and finishing ninth nationally in 1985. In 1987, he left Augsburg to work in the insurance industry and later went to Northwestern Chiropractic College. He now operates a chiropractic practice in Oakdale, Minnesota. He and his wife, Sharon, have three children – Nathan, Joshua, and Hannah.
