One of the only three Auggies to ever earn All-American honors twice in men’s hockey (1979, 1980), Gauger was a member of Augsburg’s first-ever national championship team, the men’s hockey NAIA titlists in 1978. He earned All-MIAC honors in 1978, 1979, and 1980 and was team captain his junior and senior years. He compiled 16 goals and 68 assists for 84 points in his Auggie career, playing on teams that won MIAC titles all four years of his career and earned NAIA national tournament berths three times (1977, 1978, 1980). He began his career as a regional director of Viacom Entertainment, spent 15 years as senior vice president of mergers/acquisitions at Gambro Health Services, and currently works as Senior Vice President for Fresenius Medical Care NA. He lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota, with his wife Catherine and their two children – Mark and John.
