Clarence L. "Bobb" Miller served for more than 40 years as a volleyball player, coach, administrator and referee. He was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1995 and the YMCA Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1997.

He coached successful YMCA volleyball teams in both Miami and San Francisco during the 1940s and 1950s, then became a USVBA Naitonal Referee in 1953. In 1971, he was named a FIVB international referee, and worked numerous national and international events.

He received the USVBA Golden Whistle Award in 1967, the Frier Award in 1984 and the Leader in Volleyball Award in 1965.
