Blixt was a member of the 1975 Auggie wrestling team that finished second in the NAIA national tournament and was co-captain of that team. He was a two-time All-American, placing 6^th and in 1974 was runner-up in weight class at the national tournament. Blixt was a MIAC champion at 134 pounds in 1975.
