Preiss was a forward for Augsburg men’s basketball squads in the mid-80s, as a member of teams that won MIAC titles in 1983-84 and 1984-85, producing a record of 71-34 in his tenure. In 92 career games, Preiss scored 913 career pints (18^th-best in school history), while pulling down 765 career rebounds (third-best in school history). A team captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, Preiss earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in 1984, 1985, and 1986 and was named to the All-MIAC first team in 1987.
