Daniel Lewandowski is considered one of the best upper-weight men’s wrestlers in Augsburg history, earning NCAA Division III All-American honors three times and winning national titles in 1996 and 1997 at 190 pounds. Daniel finished his Auggie career with a 126-43 record, as he became the third of now 11 Auggie wrestlers to ever win multiple national titles. He qualified for NCAA national tournaments all four years, and also finished sixth nationally in his sophomore season. He was a two-time MIAC titlist and two-time conference runner-up. Teams he wrestled on won the NCAA national title in 1995 and 1997, with a runner-up finish in 1996 and a fourth-place finish in 1994. Daniel was a computer science major at Augsburg, earning National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American honors three times and Academic All-America honors his senior year. In 2003, he became the first Augsburg wrestler ever inducted into the NWCA Division III Hall of Fame. He also played soccer for three years at Augsburg. He later served as an Auggie assistant wrestling coach for three seasons, as a part of two national title teams. After graduating from Augsburg, he earned a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota, and is now pursuing an MBA. He has led an interesting life since his Auggie days, working in technology for more than 20 years, while also serving as a tour guide and global volunteer in 44 countries. He has earned multiple black belts in Tae Kwon Do and served as a youth coach and volunteer. Daniel currently works as a data science consultant at Wells Fargo and runs his own consulting firm. He lives with his wife Rebecca Heidelberger, and sons Mikal and Lucas, in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.
