A member of Auggie teams that won the first three MIAC men’s soccer championships in school history, Debing was the first Auggie men’s soccer player (with Phil Olson) to earn All-MIAC honors three times. He was awarded All-MIAC honors in the 1974, 75, and 76 seasons, while the Auggies won MIAC titles in 1973, 74 and 75. Auggie teams finished 49-12-4 during Debing’s career. He was a team captain in 1976 and was a member of the U.S. Region III men’s soccer team in 1975. Since graduating from Augsburg, Debing has stayed active in soccer, coaching teams at Richfield, Eastview (Apple Valley), Eagan and Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He has worked as a store manager, a part-owner of the “Now You See IT” video stores, a district manager for Funcoland, director of store operations for Second Swing store, and is currently is a Distributor of Mona Vie, a nutritional beverage. He lives in Maple Plain, Minnesota with his wife, Mary and two sons Anthony and Adam.
