Emily Anderson Higgins played a key role in the renaissance of Augsburg’s women’s soccer program, as the Auggies became consistent contenders for postseason berths. Emily played in 71 games as a forward for the Auggies in her career, scoring 28 goals with 20 assists for 76 points, currently ranking sixth in school history in goals, 10th in assists and sixth in points. She earned All-MIAC honors in 2004 and 2005, and All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in 2006, and was named the team’s Outstanding Offensive Player in 2003 and earned the team’s Auggie Award in 2004. Teams she played for went 39-22-11 in her four years, with berths in the MIAC postseason playoffs in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She also played basketball her first season at Augsburg. Emily was a biology major and chemistry minor at Augsburg, and earned Academic All-District and Academic All-MIAC honors, and was named Augsburg’s 2007 co-Honor Athlete. After graduating from Augsburg, Emily earned her master’s degree in the physician’s assistant program at Stony Brook University in New York. She returned to the Twin Cities to work in the emergency room at Hennepin County Medical Center for five years, then moved to her current position as a physician assistant in the emergency room at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Emily and her husband, Jeff Higgins, have three boys, Calvin, Cameron and James, and live in Woodbury, Minnesota.
