Eric Rolland was the leader on some of the best teams in Augsburg men’s golf history, and two decades later, has returned to become a leader for the Auggies again. During his collegiate career, Augsburg won the MIAC team championship in 1995, while recording second-place conference finishes in both 1994 and 1996. As an individual, Eric finished third in the conference meet in 1995 and fourth in 1996, each time earning All-MIAC honors. The Auggies competed in the NCAA Division III national tournament his sophomore, junior and senior years, with Eric finishing 17th, 35th and 34th in individual national competition. He earned GCAA All-America honors in 1995 and all-district honors in 1997. In his career at Augsburg, he finished with a 77.92 career stroke average, one of the best averages in program history. Eric graduated from Augsburg with a degree in marketing in 1997, and briefly worked in the business world before returning to his first passion, golf. He became a PGA professional, eventually working as director of player development and as an assistant pro at Woodhill Country Club in Wayzata. In his playing career since college, he was won the Minnesota PGA Assistant Championship three times. In 2014, he returned to his alma mater as head coach for men’s and women’s golf, leading the Auggie men to the MIAC title and a national tournament berth in the 2014-15 season. Eric and his wife, Jolene, have two daughters, Ellie and Avery, and live in Rogers, Minnesota.
