Breitling was a member of several successful teams in the mid-80s, as a member of the Auggie baseball and men’s basketball teams. As a first baseman in baseball, he earned All-MIAC honors in 1987 as a team captain for the Auggies’ MIAC championship squad. The Auggies advanced to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in both 1986 and 1987. Over his last three seasons, Breitling hit .338, with 29 doubles and 107 RBI'S. In men’s basketball, he was a member of teams that won MIAC regular-season titles in both 1983-84 and 1984-85, advancing to NCAA tournament play in 1985. He also competed on the Auggie men’s golf team for two seasons. Breitling continued playing baseball with other Auggies at Highland Park in St. Paul, and the last several years with a traveling team in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Breitling earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting in 1987, and began his career in the finance department at Mesaba Airlines. He changed careers in 1988, when he went to flight school. In 1991, he was hired as a pilot for Comair Airlines. Since 1995, he has served as a pilot for United Parcel Service. He also enjoys coaching baseball and basketball. Breitling, and his wife Stephanie, were married in 2006, and live just outside of Cincinnati, in Union, Kentucky.
