Steenson, who has worked at Augsburg since 1963, began her career as secretary for the public relations office, and later moved to Alumni and Parent Relations before joining the athletic department in the early 1980s. She officially retired in 1982, but has worked at least three days a week in the athletic department since then. With 39 years of service, she is Augsburg’s longest-serving current employee. She is also secretary for the Alumni A-Club. As she enters her 90s, she remains a steady presence in all aspects of Auggie athletics, from fundraising golf tournaments in the summer to events throughout the school year. Her three children, Bob, Pat and Dave, are all Augsburg alumni, and she has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
