Plumedahl participated in both basketball and baseball while at Augsburg. In basketball he was a named All-Conference Honorable Mention by the Minneapolis Morning Tribune his sophomore year. His senior season, he was named First Team All-Conference by the Minneapolis Morning Tribune and All-Conference Honor Mention selection by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. After graduating from Augsburg, Plumedahl taught and coached at Columbia Heights.
