Jaro Cesky will be remembered as one of the best players in the long and storied history of Augsburg’s men’s hockey program. A native of Prague in the Czech Republic, the forward earned All-MIAC honors all four years of his career, and was named MIAC Player of the Year and an AHCA first-team All-American his senior season. He played in 102 games in his Auggie career, scoring 63 goals with 77 assists for 140 points, including 13 power-play goals, four shorthanded goals and six game-winning goals. He had a plus-67 career plus-minus rating, and led the team in scoring each year of his career. He scored 17 goals for an Auggie team that made the MIAC playoff semifinals in his junior year, and had 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points on Augsburg’s 17-9, MIAC playoff semifinal squad his senior season. That year, he became one of nine Auggie men’s hockey players to ever earn MIAC Player of the Year honors. Teams he played on went 53-42-9 in his career. After his college career ended, he played minor league hockey for six seasons in the United States, including three years with the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League. He then moved to European pro hockey in 2008, playing one year in France and nine seasons in Great Britain.
