Dahl was a member of successful Auggie squads in both men’s basketball and baseball. In men’s basketball, Dahl earned All-MIAC honors and team Most Valuable Player honors in 1974, along with being named an All-Lutheran honorable mention selection. A team captain, his 258 rebounds in 1972-73 and 220 rebounds in 1973-74 both remain among the top 10 single-season efforts in school history. He was a member of teams that went70-35 in his career. Dahl was also a two-year letter winner for the Auggie baseball squad, including a team that won the MIAC title in 1973. Dahl also served a year as an assistant coach for head coach Erv Inninger’s MIAC title squad in men’s basketball in 1974-75, and graduated with a health and physical education degree in 1974. Dahl returned to his hometown of Cottonwood, Minnesota, in 1982, where he worked as a painter and drywaller for 16 years and served for 10 seasons (six as assistant, four as head coach) as a basketball coach at Lakeview High School. For the past decade, he has served as a rural mail carrier. He has also been a volunteer fireman for 20 years. He and his wife, Jean, Augsburg alum, were married in 1978 and their two sons Andrew ’04 and Aaron ’07 also attended Augsburg.
